Q3. According to the article, how do you think they measure the success of the project management? Explain your opinion.
A3. Based on the article for our assignment, the WHITTMANHART project was a success. In my opinion, the measurement of success of the project management varies from each of the phases that the team project management had planned during the whole application life cycle which is the Setup/Scoping, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Integration phases. During the setup/scoping of the application, it is very essential to understand the problem and manages the up come that they may face in the future and they did found the problem. With WHITTMANHART, the problem was very clear. The executives spent too much time analyzing and processing their corporate data. They wanted to receive information versus raw data. (Sean Schnor, 2004). In the remaining phases of the whole project management, the two teams which was the technical and the creative team done their job successfully because of their skill that they had, and with the aid of the Project Manager that helps the project to be finished in time.
Q4. The article mentioned that “one of the key roles is ensuring that there is communication between all of the parties involved in the project”. In your opinion, how did the project manager manage the project communications?
A4. Based on “one of the key roles is ensuring that there is communication between all of the parties involved in the project” which is extracted from the article, it seems that the project manager succeeded in managing the project communications. In my opinion, there are several ways that keeps all the parties involved in the project and it starts from the beginning. Before all projects began, I am amazed on the team the project manager had defined for the WHITTMANHART project team as they divide equally between Macromedia and WHITTMANHART teams and I believe this is the key to ensure everyone understands their roles and must be connected each other. Besides that, the project manager does a lot of measurement to make sure to meet the team meets. During the application life cycle which is divided into 6 phases, the Project Manager had been in a major role of putting all parties (Project Development Team and the Customers or stakeholders) together. For example in the analysis phase, the project manager helps the customer visualize the solution to the problem with a conceptual prototype based on her research may be useful (Sean Schnor, 2004). Many times the project manager will find that showing the customer the solution in a tangible form really helps them visualize the solution. (Sean Schnor, 2004) This way it is not impossible to make all parties to be involved.

Good try, Kendrick.
ReplyDeleteComment on Q3: I understand from your answer that the project team looked into details since day 1 of the project initiation phase. But how actually they 'measure' their success? Isn't there any tests done somewhere during the project management processes? Think about it.
Comment on Q4: I'm a bit confused trying to understand which part of your answer actually covers the project communication management. Are you saying that the project team meet regularly, and that's how they are well-informed of the project details, etc?
BTW, thank you for citing your references in proper format.
All the best,
