Q2. According to the theory, which type of tests does the Client Satisfaction Survey falls under? Briefly explain why you think so.
According to the theory, it says that the PMCOE reported business plan goals each month to senior management. An annual Client Satisfaction Survey was distributed at the end of the year to capture feedback from the merged AT&T Project Management Community and additional surveys were distributed to the participants of major deliverables including the annual AT&T Project Management Symposium. All this feedback was analyzed and incorporated into key findings that were then used to improve the PMCOE. From this, I think the Client Satisfaction Survey falls under the user acceptance testing, which is an independent test performed by end users prior to accepting the delivered system. It focuses on the business fit of the system to the organization, rather than technical issues. This testing can help to improve the quality of software development projects, it is important for organizations to follow a thorough and disciplined testing methodology. System developers and tester must also establish a partnership with all project stakeholders to mark sure the system meets their needs and expectations and the tests are done properly. Because the Client Satisfaction Survey is only to the PMCOE reported business, and it was gave to the customers to do, which fit the meaning of the user acceptance testing. From the feedback, then can understand how to improve the PMCOE,which services is the most important to AT&T Project Management Community. At last, it will show the result that is greater than anticipated awareness and appreciation of the PMCOE mission, objectives and offerings.
Q4.AT&T has found that top management support gave a significant influence on the project management community. How could this support affect the whole project life cycle, and how did the project team get the top management involved in the project?
In general, project life cycle define what work will be performed in each phase, what deliverables will be produced and when, who is involved in the each phase, and how management will control and approve work produced in each phase. We know that the AT&T project management community is stronger than ever as the PMCOE successfully brought together project managers, program managers, PMOs and Supervisors of PMs across many functional areas and global regions. Additionally, through diligent cost management, comparing estimates to actual and remaining in close communication with the organizational finance coordinator, there have been no PMCOE project cost overruns. So in this project, the project management process group of planning which focus by concept and development. And, delivering the actual works which focus by implementation and close-out. From this concepts, we also can see that the PMCOE brought the project managers and program managers, and the top management commitment is important to the project managers because project managers need adequate resources, project managers often require approval for unique project needs in a timely manner, project managers must have cooperation from people in other parts of the organization, project managers often need someone to mentor and coach them on leadership issues. And the program managers can use several specific technologies, such as Java programmer, XML programmer, C/C++programmer, and so on. In this project, the project managers do training and empowerment, the programmer managers do communications.
